Our Mission

Our mission is to build fellowship and strengthen our spirituality while serving the parish in ministry and community. The ministry of “the Men of Holy Family” (also known as the MOHF) is dedicated to building, in Christian and Catholic values, Fellowship, and Social Responsibility within the parish of Holy Family Catholic Church, encouraging individual and group participation in spiritual development activities and to foster evangelistic out-reach within the parish and beyond. It is the hope of the Men of Holy Family that each member prayerfully consider how each can show their gratitude to God for His gifts to them by offering their gifts, time and talents to the parish. They are to be shared with our Youth, our Elderly, our Indigent, our Sick and among Ourselves.

Coming to Holy Family over 20 years ago, Duane, a Florida native, and his wife, Lynette, have been in Orlando since 1993. They have six children, all of whom have attended Holy Family Catholic School: Jeremiah, his wife Liz, and their two daughters reside in Greenville SC, Natalie, her husband Thiago, and their son reside in Orlando, Theresa is pursuing her nursing career while working at Shands in Gainesville, Joseph is currently enrolled at the University of Florida and works construction in his off time, Benjamin is a senior at Bishop Moore Catholic High School, and is pursuing Westpoint after graduation, and Eric, their youngest, is currently attending Holy Family Catholic school.

Duane and Lynette met in college at St. Augustine‘s Catholic Church in Gainesville while training to be lectors, a passion that both of them have kept up for over 30 years. Consequently, both of their married children also met their future spouses at Saint Augustine’s. Both continue to be active lectors at Holy Family. In addition, Duane serves as lead usher for Mass at the church. Both have taught prep off and on over the years for HFCC and Duane has chaperoned many confirmation retreats. For several years, Duane was president of Conquest Boys Club for Florida, successfully managing four to five boys’ retreats in this time period.

Duane served as past president at Saint Mary Magdalen Men’s Club. His upbringing and secondary education is in environmental horticulture and he has owned and operated a landscape/irrigation business for several years prior to transitioning into the insurance realm, where he currently serves as a field manager in claims operation at USAA insurance.

Alex van Grondelle

AVP Membership

Alexander van Grondelle was born in the UK; his father was born in the Dutch East Indies, and his mother is English. Travel was part of his upbringing, having lived for 8 years in Bahrain, and visiting many countries in the Middle East, Europe, Africa, and the USA. After meeting his German born wife, they decided to move to Florida in 1996.

Prior to working as a mortgage consultant in the UK, Alex worked in hotel management and put this to use within the travel industry in Florida. During this time, he obtained his real estate license to help his Real Estate endeavors. Friends and colleagues would ask him to help them buy & sell their home, and this led to a career as a Realtor, and ultimately a Real Estate Broker.

After 50+ years of attending church as a C.E.O. member only (Christmas & Easter Only), and after a couple of challenging family events, Alexander and his wife, Alexandra, attended and became parishioners at Holy Family in July 2021, and have been practicing their faith since then. Alexander joined the Men of Holy Family ministry at the beginning of this year, and realizing he has 50+ years of serving others to catch up on, he volunteered to join the board. He is now committed to serving others at 'Holy Family', like he has served other families into their homes throughout his career!

To the men of Holy Family Catholic Church, if you would like to know more about our ministry, please reach out to me!

Dan, his wife Bernadine and their newborn daughter Julia relocated to the Orlando area from Greensboro, N.C. in 2000. Upon arriving the Galate family immediately joined the Holy Family Catholic parish. Within a short period of time Julia started attending the Holy Family Catholic school, where she spent PK3-8 th grade. Having Julia as a student in the school gave Dan and Bernadine many opportunities to offer their services for school functions and activities as well as participate in many other church ministries and activities. Joining with the Men of Holy family was the first on Dan’s list. Dan is an Army veteran who then put in many years managing operations for some the largest heavy truck and bus manufacturers in the U.S. and is now retired. Dan looks forward to serving the Men of Holy Family during his second time on the board in this position.
